About
The “Zantchito-Skills for Jobs” Programme, embedded in the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), aims at creating an ecosystem of job creators, as opposed to job seekers. It will do this by addressing the Malawi economy’s need for skilled professionals and providing decent jobs and self-employment opportunities for young TEVET graduates, University graduates, and entrepreneurs, with special attention to women’s needs.
Government Involvement
Malawi’s vision is to become “An inclusively wealthy and self-reliant nation” by the year 2063.Within the framework of the 2063 Agenda, entrepreneurship is recognised as a key enabler to realising this goals.
Under enabler number 5 which is Human Capital Development, the government emphasizes the need for Education and Skills Development. This is further elaborated with the statement that reads ” We shall be a highly knowledgeable people with relevant quality education that incorporates a strong element of academic excellence and technical and vocational skills fit for the labour market, entrepreneurship and implementation of the Vision “
The Zantchito Skills Programme is therefore well aligned with the Malawi Government’s vision for prosperity.
