Zantchito Entrepreneurship Voices (ZEV) is bringing entrepreneurship in Malawi to life on TV screens around the country, encouraging and motivating young people.
ZEV’s drama series ‘Titha Kuchita’ is now airing on television, following the story of Lindani, a young woman who starts her own business with the support of her family and friends.
The drama series – currently screening on all three national television stations – shares Lindani’s ups and downs. She doubts her capabilities, but with support from her family and her friend/mentor Stanley, she discovers her true entrepreneurial potential and overcomes the various challenges of starting a business.
Meet 29-year old Thoko Kamenya, holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in education from Malawi Assemblies of God University, who plays the role of Lindani in the ZEV drama series.
Kamenya says that throughout the filming of the drama series, she learnt a lot about entrepreneurship… ranging from having a clear vision for your business, to the importance of planning, having a marketing strategy, and knowing how to meet a real customer need.

Says Thoko: “An entrepreneur should always be innovative. One key skill is to identify potential clients and work on understanding and then meeting their needs. And entrepreneurs need to have self-confidence – it’s not always easy starting a business!”
“I feel that in being the main character for this series, I was given the privilege of inspiring others – especially young people – and giving them an entertaining but valuable “take” on the issues that a new start-up business can expect to face. I have learnt that entrepreneurship is like starting a journey.”
First, you must have a destination – a vision for what you want to achieve. Then you work out a plan to get there – a plan based on clear target market and clear focus on the product or service you are selling to this market, that meets a specific need.
“And entrepreneurs need to have self-confidence – it’s not always easy to start a business.”
“An entrepreneur should be able to overcome fear of failure and self-doubt – these are not unusual, but it’s important to maintain a positive mental attitude,” she emphasised.

Kamenya stresses the importance of openness to the views and ideas of others, as part of the entrepreneurial journey.
“An entrepreneur should be open enough to accept new ideas, whether they are coming from employees, workers or customers.”
“As Lindani in the Titha Kuchita, I was always learning things from others. You should watch this series – whether you already have a business or are thinking of starting one.”
“This series has a lot for you, from innovation to dealing with clients,” she emphasised.
If you want to know more about entrepreneurship through following Lindani’s story, don’t miss this mesmerizing 100 percent Malawian series.
ZEV drama series ‘Titha Kuchita’ is currently airing on MBC TV, Times TV, Zodiak TV, as well as their respective radio stations – with new episode every weekend.
